The Beginning

Tracking South formed in the summer of 2022, towards the end of the COVID-19 crisis. After having played primarily bluegrass for several years, John posted an add looking for people interested in playing electric music.

The first to join was Jake, on drums. While playing through the songs, John would say to Jake, “When we find another guitarist, the lead will go here.” The next to join was Dave, on bass. Dave and John had previously collaborated on several projects — playing together was easy and natural.

Initially, the idea was to be a typical blues/rock band, focusing on Southern Rock. Thus, the name: Tracking South.

Things were about to change

In February 2023, after the usual band member puts and takes, Anthony joined on lead guitar. Anthony brought with him professionalism and expertise.

Shortly thereafter, Georgia joined as a harmony singer. Suddenly, when the band sang “the chorus” it sounded like “a chorus”. In fact, we liked it so much, later in the year we added Susan. Suddenly, the band could play any song in any style.
